Feb 12 2016 Proposed NOx RACT Plan Amendment 3 with Texas Gas Transmission, LLC.

The Louisville Metro Air Pollution Control Board opens a public comment period on February 14, 2016, on an amended Board Order and site-specific plan for oxides of nitrogen (NOx) reasonably available control technology (RACT) for Texas Gas Transmission, LLC, 10327 Gaslight Way, Louisville, KY 40299. If approved by the Board, this amended NOx RACT plan will be submitted to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for revision of the Kentucky State Implementation Plan.

Feb 11 2016 Additional Community Syringe Exchange Site to Open February 17

The Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness will open a second community site for the Louisville Metro Syringe Exchange Program on  Wednesday February 17. The site will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays in a vacant lot owned by the Louisville Metro Housing Authority at 1455 Bicknell Avenue.  The site will be operated by Volunteers of America under a contract to the Department of Public Health and Wellness.

Goal is to raise at least $30,000 for children impacted by high levels of lead 

Mayor Greg Fischer joined members of the Louisville Water Co. and its Foundation, Louisville MSD and WaterStep to launch a community-wide effort to provide funding for children in Flint, Michigan, who have been impacted by high levels of lead in their drinking water.

Feb 11 2016 Proposed Title V Construction Permit C-0060-1053-16-V for Kosmos Cement Company

The Louisville Metro Air Pollution Control District (District) proposes to issue a construction permit for Kosmos Cement Company (Portland Cement Production), 15301 Dixie Highway, in accordance with Regulation 2.03. The purpose is replacement of existing equipment for the rail load spout. The 30 day public comment period starts February 13, 2016 and ends on March 14, 2016. A public hearing may be scheduled if the District determines that there are germane, unresolved issues or substantial public interest, in accordance with Regulation 2.07.

Louisville is launching a community wide effort to design a strategy to help cut down on the use of landfills by reusing goods and materials as much as possible. Anyone with an interest is invited to take part next week in the kickoff meeting of the Reuse Collective Impact Committee.

Today, Mayor Greg Fischer announced that the Bluegrass Economic Advancement Movement (BEAM) has been selected to develop a regional plan to attract and leverage foreign direct investment, building off its existing BEAM Regional Economic Growth Plan, as part of the Global Cities Initiative, a joint project of the Brookings Institution and JPMorgan Chase.
