May 24 2017 Metro Parks to offer lifeguard certification course at Algonquin Pool next week

Metro Parks and Recreation will be offering a lifeguard certification course next week at the Algonquin Pool, 1614 Cypress Street.

The course will be administered by Metro Parks and Recreation staff and will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 30 through Friday, June 2.

May 23 2017 No waste collection on Memorial Day

There will be no residential garbage, junk, recycling or yard waste collection within the Louisville Metro Urban Services District (former Louisville city limits) on Memorial Day, Monday May 29. Collection through the week will be delayed by one day because of the holiday.

Residents who rely on private haulers for garbage, recycling and yard waste collection should consult those haulers about holiday collection schedules.

The first event in the artist speaker series will take place at 5:30 p.m. May 23, when Mayor Greg Fischer will talk with artists Daniel Bodner and Braylyn Stewart about recent projects and their creative process, specifically working in the public realm.

May 18 2017 Metro Parks and Recreation seeking lifeguards for outdoor pools

Louisville Metro Parks and Recreation is seeking to fill open lifeguard positions at its four outdoor pools; Norton, Algonquin, Sun Valley and at Nelson Hornbeck Park in Fairdale.

In addition to current staff, the Metro Parks and Recreation aquatics division says there’s room for approximately 15 more lifeguards to be hired over the summer.

May 15 2017 APCD Notice of Action on a FEDOOP Construction Permit: International Paper Company

The Louisville Metro Air Pollution Control District (District) proposes to issue a construction permit for International Paper Company (Printing Operation), 4400 Progress Blvd., in accordance with Regulation 2.03. The construction permit is for a new flexographic printer. The 30-day public comment period starts May 16, 2017, and ends on June 15, 2017. A public hearing may be scheduled if the District determines that there are germane, unresolved issues or substantial public interest, in accordance with Regulation 2.07.
