Oct 27 2016 Portions of Seneca Park walking path to be repaved Oct. 31-Nov. 1

An approximately 1,000-foot section of the walking path in Seneca Park will be milled and re-paved on Monday, Oct. 31 and Tuesday, Nov. 1. It will be re-opened to the public the afternoon of Tuesday, Nov. 1. 

The section of the path that will see the work will be on Rock Creek Drive westward from Homestead Blvd. to the area near the tennis courts on Pee Wee Reese Rd.

Louisville Metro Government won in the City Government category, highlighting our work to secure $1.2 million dollars in special funding to implement a new cybersecurity program that is tied directly to Mayor Fischer’s strategic goals.

Oct 26 2016 Thurman Hutchins playground closed until further notice

The playground at Thurman Hutchins Park, located along River Road, has been closed indefinitely and is not available for public use. The current playground is scheduled to be demolished and replaced with new equipment in mid-November 2016.

Mayor Greg Fischer and Louisville Metro Community Services today announced the launch of a new automated telephone and online appointment system that will help clients schedule appointments to apply for home energy assistance.

 Mayor Fischer and Community Services also announced new locations for LIHEAP application appointments. 

Oct 26 2016 Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory plants 20 trees for 20th anniversary

Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory is branching out in a special way to celebrate its 20th anniversary. In partnership with Brightside, the popular local attraction will sponsor the planting of twenty trees in a vacant lot in the Smoketown neighborhood. After the trees are planted this fall, the project will blossom into an entirely new park with walkways, benches, and more next spring.

Oct 26 2016 Mayor Fischer hosts 2nd “Lou’s Brew” bike tour Oct. 29

Mayor Greg Fischer and the Louisville Convention and Visitors Bureau are teaming up to host the second “Lou’s Brew” bike ride on Saturday, October 29.

The ride, which celebrates local breweries, will stop at four, giving everyone a chance to tour the facilities, talk with the brewers and enjoy a small taste of their creations.

Last year, the Louisville Convention and Visitors Bureau introduced “Lou’s Brew” — a guide that highlights local breweries for locals and tourists.

Oct 25 2016 Louisville sets new record in education attainment

Louisville’s adult population has set a new record for college attainment, according to 2015 data released this week from the Census Bureau’s American Community Survey. Highlights of the data include:  The percentage of working-age adults with at least an associate degree now stands at 44.7 percent, up 3 percentage points over the previous year. 

The percentage with at least a bachelor’s degree was also up to 35.7 percent, a 2.4 percentage point increase.

The Louisville Metro Air Pollution Control District (District) proposes to issue an operating permit to The Chemours Company FC, LLC (manufactures refrigerant gases), 4200 Camp Ground Road, in accordance with Regulation 2.16.  The 30-day public comment period starts October 27, 2016, and ends on November 28, 2016.  A public hearing may be scheduled if the District determines that there are germane, unresolved issues or substantial public interest, in accordance with Regulation 2.07.
