Mayor Greg Fischer and Louisville Metro Police Chief Steve Conrad welcomed state Senator Dan Seum to the offices of the 9th Mobile Division Wednesday to thank him for sponsoring legislation that passed this year to strengthen penalties for repeat offenders who use guns to commit crimes.

Mayor Greg Fischer today joined local officials, students and residents from the Russell neighborhood to celebrate the completion of renovations and the addition of a sprayground at Sheppard Park. The sprayground is part of a number of changes within the park that includes the addition of a Conga drum play area, new restrooms, walking path markers, picnic tables and park benches.

Jun 6 2018 Family Farm and Forage Day to be held June 16 at Riverside, the Farnsley Moremen Landing

A fun – and free – family event will take place on the banks of the Ohio River in southwest Louisville on Saturday, June 16 as Riverside, the Farnsley-Moremen Landing hosts “Family Farm and Forage Day” from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will explore historic and present-day farming with a variety of children’s activities, workshops, talks and booths.

Jun 5 2018 Free tax preparation for residents filing past due returns

Although the 2017 tax filing season has ended, there is still free help available in preparing past due and amended tax returns.  Now through October, the Louisville Asset Building Coalition’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program, or VITA, will provide federal and state income tax assistance to income eligible residents who need help filing prior returns. It is also still possible to receive a refund for returns from the years 2015 to 2017 for those who qualify.

Jun 1 2018 Employee at St. Matthews Denny’s diagnosed with hepatitis A virus

An employee of Denny’s restaurant at 4030 Dutchman’s Lane in St. Matthews has been diagnosed with acute hepatitis A.   Another employee at the same restaurant was diagnosed with acute hepatitis A in March.  The two cases are not related.

May 31 2018 CycLOUvia Returns to Frankfort Avenue on June 24

CycLOUvia, the popular event showcasing alternative transportation, is returning to Frankfort Avenue for the fifth time on Sunday, June 24, Mayor Greg Fischer announced. Frankfort Avenue from Pope Street to Stilz Avenue will be closed to vehicular traffic from 2-6 p.m. Police will facilitate a motor crossing at Ewing Avenue. Many businesses along the corridor will be open and engaging the street with specials for the event.
