The Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness and its community partners offer free stop smoking classes using the Cooper/Clayton method. The 13-week program includes weekly support group meetings combined with the use of nicotine replacement products such as patches and gum. Participants receive free weekly supplies of nicotine replacement products.

On Friday, September 11, Spalding University President Tori Murden McClure and the Board of Trustees dedicated and celebrated the opening of the Republic Bank Academic Center at 981 S. Third St. The 40,000 square foot building expands the southeast border of the Spalding campus from Third and Breckinridge Streets to Third and Kentucky.

Sep 9 2015 Metro Parks Hosts NFL’s Punt Pass and Kick Competition

Open to boys and girls ages 6 to 15

Metro Parks will host a local qualifier for the national NFL Punt, Pass & Kick competition at Louisville Champions Park soccer fields, 2050 River Road, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on September 19. (Rain date: September 26)

Established in 1961, the national Punt, Pass & Kick (PPK) program is a skills competition for boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 15.

Sep 9 2015 Council Members Sponsor Resolution requesting MSD Fund a Long Term Buy-out Program for Flood Damaged Properties

Several members of the Louisville Metro Council are sponsoring a Resolution requesting the Metropolitan Sewer District to set aside additional funding in the coming years for an enhanced home buyout program. The plan calls for MSD to increase funding for such programs in future budgets so that they can make progress on a growing list of properties that have seen reoccurring flooding.
