The story of the historic civil rights march that lead America toward passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 is the subject of “Selma” the 2014 film which is the final movie in the District 5 Free Friday Night Movies in the Park on September 11th.

Sep 9 2015 Council Members Sponsor Resolution requesting MSD Fund a Long Term Buy-out Program for Flood Damaged Properties

Several members of the Louisville Metro Council are sponsoring a Resolution requesting the Metropolitan Sewer District to set aside additional funding in the coming years for an enhanced home buyout program. The plan calls for MSD to increase funding for such programs in future budgets so that they can make progress on a growing list of properties that have seen reoccurring flooding.

Sep 9 2015 Metro Parks Hosts NFL’s Punt Pass and Kick Competition

Open to boys and girls ages 6 to 15

Metro Parks will host a local qualifier for the national NFL Punt, Pass & Kick competition at Louisville Champions Park soccer fields, 2050 River Road, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on September 19. (Rain date: September 26)

Established in 1961, the national Punt, Pass & Kick (PPK) program is a skills competition for boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 15.

Standing near the site of the future Food Port, Mayor Greg Fischer today launched Phase 1 of the West Louisville Neighborhood Wi-Fi Project, which will initially provide free internet to three spots in the Russell neighborhood, and grow to cover more of West Louisville.

The city’s website,, received national attention with a 2nd place finish in the 2015 Best of the Web Awards conducted by the Center for Digital Government (CDG), Mayor Greg Fischer announced today.
