Oct 15 2015 Public Health and Wellness Announces First Community Syringe Exchange Site

Today the Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness announced the first community exchange site for the Louisville Metro Syringe Exchange Program.  Beginning next Thursday October 22, the community site will be open Thursdays from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.at the Lake Dreamland Fire Station at 4603 Cane Run Rd.

Oct 12 2015 MISA Fabricating Inc. Set to Expand in Louisville

MISA Metal Fabricating Inc., an industrial mainstay for more than a quarter century, will expand at the Jefferson Riverport International Industrial Park, Mayor Greg Fischer and Gov. Steve Beshear announced today.

MISA, which provides steel cutting, welding, machining, fabricating and other services to industrial clients, will create 18 jobs and invest more than $4.3 million in the project.

Louisville Metro Animal Services (LMAS) and the Kentucky Humane Society (KHS) are gearing up for what they expect to be Louisville’s biggest pet adoption weekend on record.

On October 17 and 18, the two agencies will charge no adoption fees (license fees will still apply) for all animals at their two main adoption facilities—the KHS Main Campus in south Louisville and the LMAS Animal House on Newburg Road. The celebration, which runs 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days, is part of the ASPCA’s national Mega Match-a-thon presented by Subaru.

Oct 9 2015 Anthony Smith to run national anti-violence partnership

Mayor Greg Fischer announced today that Anthony Smith, director of the Office for Safe and Healthy Neighborhoods, has accepted the position of inaugural chief executive officer of Cities United, a Washington D.C.-based collective of mayors from across the nation working to stop the unprecedented and devastating loss of human life happening in cities throughout America, particularly among African American men and boys.  He will begin his new job November 2.

Oct 9 2015 Proposed Title V PAL Construction Permit 30043-11-C (R1) for Ford Motor Company (KTP)

The Louisville Metro Air Pollution Control District (District) proposes to issue a Plant-wide Applicability Limit (PAL) construction permit to Ford Motor Company-Kentucky Truck Plant, (manufactures automobiles, light- and medium-duty trucks), 3001 Chamberlain Lane, Louisville, KY 40241 in accordance with Regulation 2.04/2.05. The 30 day public comment period starts October 11, 2015 and ends on November 10, 2015. A public hearing may be scheduled if the District determines that there are germane, unresolved issues or substantial public interest, in accordance with Regulation 2.07.
