Dec 9 2014 Brightside Launches Green Living Neighborhood Certification Program

To encourage citizens and neighborhoods to go greener and more sustainable, Brightside has launched the Green Living Neighborhood Certification program, Mayor Greg Fischer announced today.  The tiered certification program is designed to educate and encourage neighborhoods to adopt green practices and then recognize them for their achievements.

The work of more than 88 foster grandparents who help mentor children will be honored at a special luncheon Dec. 11.  The holiday-themed event will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Kentucky Center for African American Heritage, 1701 W. Muhammad Ali Blvd.

The Louisville Metro Air Pollution Control District (District) proposes to issue a revised FEDOOP operating permit to Forth Technologies (Pigment Manufacturing), 600 Bergman Avenue in accordance with Regulation 2.17. The 30 day public comment period starts December 9, 2014 and ends on January 9, 2015.  A public hearing may be scheduled if the District determines that there are germane, unresolved issues or substantial public interest, in accordance with Regulation 2.07.

To encourage more people to adopt their next pet, Louisville’s two largest pet adoption agencies are charging no adoption fees for cats age 1 year or older and $40 for dogs 40 pounds or more Wednesday, December 10 through Sunday, December 14.

Dec 8 2014 Zipcar Arrives in Louisville

Mayor Greg Fischer announced today that Zipcar, the world’s leading car sharing network, is coming to Louisville. Zipcar members in the Louisville area are now able to reserve vehicles in the city from two spots leased by the Parking Authority of River City (PARC) at the Brown Hotel.

A self-serve, rentable vehicle, the two new Zipcars can be reserved by members via the Zipcar smartphone app.
