Sep 23 2016 Councilwoman Woolridge assists Solid Waste Management in impounding a vehicle of an illegal dumper

Metro Council proved it was serious about combating illegal dumping a few years ago when it passed an ordinance that allows the city to impound vehicles used in that activity. Councilwoman Mary Woolridge (D-3) followed up recently when she gave Solid Waste Management information about dumping in an alley in the 1500 block of Beech Street

Sep 23 2016 Councilman Hollander Welcomes Red Hog to Frankfort Avenue


Louisville – Louisville’s first local craft butcher shop opens this week, with a ribbon cutting scheduled for Saturday, September 24 at 9:00 am.  Red Hog is located at 2622 Frankfort Avenue, at the corner of Frankfort and Franck Avenues. 
 
The business features pork, beef, lamb, and poultry, all from local farms.  The meat is currently available as fresh cuts, cooked or cured, in the butcher shop.   A café in the same location is expected to open in October.

There is an Air Quality Alert for ozone for Thursday 9/22 and Friday 9/23 in Louisville and Southern Indiana. 

Ozone is forecast to be unhealthy for sensitive groups (seniors, children, people with breathing ailments such as asthma and COPD). The general public is not likely to be affected.

The Louisville Metro Air Pollution Control District (District) proposes to issue a construction permit to Clariant Corporation (Louisville South Plant), a catalysts manufacturing plant, 4900 Crittenden Drive, in accordance with Regulation 2.16.  The 30-day public comment period starts September 24, 2016 and ends on October 25, 2016.  A public hearing may be scheduled if the District determines that there are germane, unresolved issues or substantial public interest, in accordance with Regulation 2.07.

Metro Parks and Recreation has identified approximately 50 ash trees that are dead or dying along city parkways due to the presence of the Emerald Ash Borer that are being removed by crews from the Metro Parks forestry division and the Bob Ray tree removal company.
