President David Yates is encouraging residents to come out to the next “Talk with David” on Monday, May 9th, at the Southwest Regional Library beginning at 6:00pm.

May 4 2016 47th Annual Municipal Clerks Week honors all in Local Government who maintain the official records of legislative bodies

They are responsible for recording the actions of city councils all over the world.  They keep and maintain meeting minutes and make sure all documents are correct as part of the orderly function of local government.  They are the official records custodian for local governments. In honor of their hard work, this week, May 1st through May 7th, is the 47th Annual Municipal Clerks Week.

 

May 3 2016 Free Junk Drop-off at Outer Loop Landfill

A free bulk waste and junk drop-off event will be held on Sunday, May 15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Waste Management Outer Loop Landfill, 2673 Outer Loop.  Residents throughout Jefferson County may drop off bulky items not accepted during regular garbage collection such as appliances, furniture and mattresses.

Mayor Fischer announced today the redevelopment of the Jacob School buildings into senior living apartments. Bywater Development Group is proposing a comprehensive historic rehabilitation of the school buildings and redevelopment of the site, creatively converting the historic buildings into affordable senior apartments.

To seek better ways to honor our community heritage, Mayor Fischer announced the formation of the Historic Preservation Advisory Task Force. The Task Force will seek to create policies to address preservation planning strategies that anticipate and identify areas where historic preservation and/or adaptive reuse should be identified.

Mayor Greg Fischer today announced that Louisville Forward, the city’s economic and community development organization, has been named one of the Top U.S. Economic Development Groups for 2015 by Site Selection magazine, an achievement earned two years in a row. Since its creation in July 2014, Louisville Forward has helped businesses create nearly 10,500 new jobs in Louisville, representing an investment of nearly three billion dollars.
