Aug 29 2016 No waste collection on Labor Day

There will be no residential garbage, recycling or yard waste collection within the Louisville Metro Urban Services District (former Louisville city limits) on Labor Day, Monday September 5, 2016. Collection through the week will be delayed by one day because of the holiday.

Residents who rely on private haulers for garbage, recycling and yard waste collection should consult those haulers about holiday collection schedules.

Mayor Greg Fischer and Fifth District Metro Councilwoman Cheri Bryant Hamilton were joined Saturday by members of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, NAACP, River City Drum Corps and Louisville Buffalo Soldiers to rededicate a west Louisville park in honor of Col. Charles D. Young.

Aug 29 2016 One Water initiatives expected to bring $9.3 million in savings

Mayor Greg Fischer and the One Water Board announced today that the collaboration between Louisville Water and MSD is expected to provide a benefit to ratepayers at an estimated $9.3 million in 2016.

Aug 25 2016 UPS breaks ground on $300 million expansion of Centennial Ground Hub facility

Mayor Greg Fischer and Gov. Matt Bevin today joined officials to break ground on the new $300 million expansion of the United Parcel Service (UPS) Centennial Ground Hub facility, which will create up to 300 full- and part-time jobs.

 

“UPS is one of the major economic engines in the city and state,” said Fischer. “We are pleased that the company is continuing to invest to ensure outstanding service for shippers large and small.”

Aug 25 2016 Cherokee Park bridge closure to begin September 6

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will be closing the Chenoweth Bridge in Jefferson County’s Cherokee Park beginning September 6. This bridge is located on Beargrass Road and will close next month to allow for repairs.

The Chenoweth Bridge closure will last approximately six weeks. During construction, motorists, cyclists and pedestrians should follow the signed detour via Barrett Hill Road.

Aug 21 2016 County Attorney's annual delinquent child support list released

Jefferson County Attorney Mike O’Connell today announced the eleventh publication of delinquent child support obligors is now available in The Courier-Journal and available online.

The Child Support Division has collected $14.8 million, sent wage withholding orders to 11,029 employers and found 18,266 new addresses directly attributable to the lists printed each year since 2005.

The Louisville Metro Air Pollution Control Board opens a public comment period August 19, 2016, on Regulation 1.02, Version 14, Definitions; Regulation 1.15, Version 17, Version of Federal Regulations Adopted and Incorporated by Reference; Regulation 2.05, Version 11, Prevention of Significant Deterioration of Air Quality; and Regulation 3.01, Version 6, Ambient Air Quality Standards that were proposed on August 17, 2016.  If adopted by the Board, these regulations will be submitted to U.S. EPA for inclusion in the Kentucky State Implementation Plan.
