Metro Councilmembers Bill Hollander (D-9) and Cheri Bryant-Hamilton (D-5) announced today that they have introduced an ordinance relating to Louisville Metro trees. 

Adoption of such an ordinance was the very first of 41 recommendations in the 2015 Louisville Urban Tree Canopy Assessment. It was also recommended by the Louisville Metro Tree Advisory Commission, after a lengthy review of ordinances in dozens of other cities, including several in Kentucky.

Dec 2 2016 Syphilis Cases Increasing in Louisville

The Department of Public Health and Wellness, with support from the Kentucky Department for Public Health, is increasing its activities to monitor and screen for syphilis.

New infectious syphilis cases in Louisville rose from 73 cases in 2014 to 89 cases by mid-November 2016.  The number of reported new cases of infectious syphilis rose nationally by 19 percent between 2014 and 2015 according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
