Popular Guitar Emporium Will Stay in Business
Thursday May 23, 2013
The Louisville Metropolitan Business Development Corporation approved a loan in the amount of $60,000 for a new owner to buy Guitar Emporium after the previous seller decided to retire. The loan will leverage a total investment of $965,000.
Guitar Emporium closed in March after having been in business for approximately 40 years, due to owner Jimmy Brown and his wife wanting to retire. Sherman Buschemeyer will buy the business and building, located at 1610 Bardstown Road, and is looking to grow the business.
The internationally-known store served well-known clientele including Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, Neil Young, ZZ Top and U2.
The five employees who lost their jobs when Mr. Brown closed the store will be rehired.
