Mayor encourages nominations from citizens for
Day of Celebration at IdeaFest
Do you know a city government employee who has gone above and beyond in their service to you, your neighborhood or your city? Mayor Greg Fischer is asking citizens to nominate them for a new award that recognizes excellence and innovation in Metro Government.
The Mayor and the Office of Performance Improvement today announced the creation of The Citizen’s Award for Metro Government employees who are nominated by the people they serve. The award will be given at the annual Metro Day of Celebration, held in conjunction with the IdeaFestival in September.
“We have a great workforce and we want to hear from citizens about their experiences with our employees,” Fischer said. “We want to recognize employees for outstanding public service and customer service, and I can think of no better way to choose the recipients than by allowing the citizens to do the nominating.”
Nominations can be made for any Metro Government employee, in any department and for any reason. Nominees must be presently employed with Metro Government, or employed within the past 12 months. Groups or teams of Metro employees may be nominated as well.
People can nominate someone (or a group) by simply filling out a form, describing in 200 words or less why they think an employee should receive the honor. Click here for the form. Nominations can also be emailed to: MLDayofCelebration@louisvilleky.gov
A selection committee will review the nominations and present three recommendations to the Mayor. The Mayor will make the final decision on who wins The Citizen’s Award, which will be announced at the Day of Celebration event, which is open to the public.
Other awards presented that day include the Performance Improvement and Government Innovation awards.
