Louisville – Back by popular demand, Councilwoman Barbara Shanklin (D-2) announces the return of “Movie Nights in the Park” beginning this Saturday, June 22nd. On that night, Petersburg Park will become an outdoor theater for the community’s enjoyment.

“Many people have requested we bring back free movies over the summer months,” says Shanklin. “I know free movies are popular in other Council Districts and we have found it is something that brings a neighborhood together.”

“Oz the Great and Powerful “will be the first featured film of the summer series. The 2013 Disney film stars James Franco, Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz and Michelle Williams and is set 20 years before Dorothy travels of to see the Wizard of Oz.

“Movies in the Park” are also set for July 20th and August10th. Admission to Newburg Movie Nights is free. Petersburg Park is located at the corner of Indian Trail and Petersburg Road.

“Grab your family and friends; bring your lawn chair and your refreshments,” says Shanklin. “Come out and join us for this free community event!”
