May 6 2015 Mayor Orders City Flags at Half-Staff in Memory of Judge John Heyburn

Mayor Greg Fischer this morning ordered flags on all Metro Government buildings to be lowered to half-staff in memory of Senior U.S. District Court Judge John Heyburn II who died April 29. The city flags will be lowered this Friday, the day of Heyburn’s funeral.

May 5 2015 Mayor Fischer, President Tandy make appointments to flood mitigation work group

The Mayor and President Tandy announced the workgroup following the eight-inch rain of April 3rd, when thousands of homes were impacted by rain water and localized flooding near creeks and streams in Jefferson County.  A metro ordinance will not allow homes in the flood plain to be improved when the cost exceeds half of the property value over a 10 year period.

Louisville Forward, the city’s economic development organization, is named one of the Top U.S. Economic Development Groups for 2014 by Site Selection magazine.  Since its creation in July, Louisville Forward has helped businesses create nearly 3,500 new jobs in Louisville, representing an investment of more than half a billion dollars. 

May 4 2015 Free Workshop Helps Citizens Build or Repair Credit History

“Credit As An Asset” is new workshop offered by Louisville Metro Department of Community Services that provides people with the tools to build or rebuild a good credit history. This free, two-hour workshop will help individuals think about their relationship with credit and why credit it is important and plan for future financial stability.
