Oct 9 2015 Anthony Smith to run national anti-violence partnership

Mayor Greg Fischer announced today that Anthony Smith, director of the Office for Safe and Healthy Neighborhoods, has accepted the position of inaugural chief executive officer of Cities United, a Washington D.C.-based collective of mayors from across the nation working to stop the unprecedented and devastating loss of human life happening in cities throughout America, particularly among African American men and boys.  He will begin his new job November 2.

The Louisville Skyline now has an additional color to serve as an important reminder for women during this month. The Historic City Hall Clock Tower at Sixth and Jefferson is now showing pink as a reminder that October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Oct 8 2015 Brightside/Waste Management of Kentucky’s Premium Compost Sale Returns October 10 and October 17, 2015

Brightside’s bi-annual compost sale and fundraiser will be held Saturday, October 10 and October 17 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Outer Loop Recycling and Disposal Facility located at 2673 Outer Loop, Louisville, Kentucky 40219.

Brightside’s community partner, Waste Management of Kentucky, generously donated the organic, plant-based compost again this fall.  All proceeds from the sale will benefit Brightside’s beautification and sustainability efforts.
