Band Lineup Announced for 2014 Forest Fest at Jefferson Memorial Forest

Friday February 14, 2014

Grammy-nominated bluegrass artist Noam Pikelny is slated to headline the Forest Fest Bluegrass Festival on May 17 at Jefferson Memorial Forest.

Pikelny has emerged as the preeminent banjoist among a new generation of acoustic musicians and was awarded the first annual Steve Martin Prize for Excellence in Banjo and Bluegrass. In 2012, Noam’s second album, Beat the Devil and Carry a Rail, received a Grammy nomination for Best Bluegrass Album.

Fiddler Stuart Duncan shares the headline spotlight at Forest Fest. Named IBMA Fiddler of the Year eight times, his work has been enjoyed by millions of Country, Americana and Bluegrass music fans for more than 40 years, and Duncan’s playing can be heard on recordings from Patty Loveless, Alison Kraus, Robert Plant, and Elvis Costello.

Completing the lineup at Forest Fest:

American Drive, a seasoned group that brings fresh new material to the forefront while still performing selected New South classics that their fans have grown accustomed to hearing over the years.

Nu-Blu, based in Siler City, North Carolina, brings a lively and entertaining version of Americana-bluegrass to audiences around the country, influenced by the original bluegrass pioneers as well as modern, contemporary sounds.

Whiskey Bent Valley, a Forest Fest favorite, returns this year with their unique brand of old-time swing dancing, foot stomping, hard driving tunes.

Forest Fest is a full day of Bluegrass music, food, craft vendors and youth activities, held annually at Jefferson Memorial Forest.
