Deputy Coroners

Jack Arnold
Deputy Arnold is a former Jefferson County Police Officer with experience as a Detective in Homicide, Vice/Narcotics, and Burglary Units. Deputy Arnold was selected as Officer of the Year, while serving as a member of the Jefferson County Police Department. He has been with the Coroner's Office since 2002.

Larry Carroll
Deputy Carroll joined the Coroner's Office in October 2006 after having served for 27 years in law enforcement. Deputy Carroll retired from LMPD in August 2006 as a homicide detective assigned to the LMPD's Cold Case Squad.

Deputy Carroll began his career as a patrol officer in 1978 with the Winchester (KY) Police Department. He later was hired by the Kentucky State Police as a State Trooper in 1979 where he was assigned to the Hazard Post. He remained there until 1987 when he was hired by the Jefferson County Police Department. As a sworn member, Deputy Carroll worked several areas prior to the merger of Louisville/Jefferson County Government such as Patrol, Applicant Background Investigations, Police Academy Instructor, Detective-Evidence Technician Unit, and Detective-Violent Crimes Unit/Homicide.

Deputy Carroll attended the University of Louisville where he obtained his BS degree in Police Adminstration.

Buddy Dumeyer
Deputy Dumeyer is a retired Captain from the Louisville Metro Police Department. In 2003 he was selected as the Commander of the Public Integrity Unit, which was charged with investigating "Officer Involved Shootings" and investigations of government employees suspected of criminal activity. He has also served as the Commander of the Jefferson County Police Special Investigations Unit, Training Unit, and Charlie District in the Patrol Division. Buddy retired after 27 years of service and has been with the Coroner's Office since September 2005. His past duties include 11 years of service on the SWAT Team, Crimes Against Children Unit, Burglary Unit, Arson Fraud and Fugitive Unit, Traffic Unit and Patrol Division.

Deputy Dumeyer received his BA Degree in Political Science from the University of Louisville. He is also a Kentucky Law Enforcement Council Police instructor certified to teach SWAT, Physical Fitness, Criminal Investigation, and Supervision Courses. Deputy Dumeyer is the coordinator of the Indigent Burial Program.

Jo-Ann Farmer
Chief Deputy Farmer is a Registered Nurse and former college Professor of Nursing. Her nursing experience includes working in the trauma unit, emergency room, coronary and intensive care units, as well as obstetrics and pediatrics units. She has been a Deputy Coroner since 1998. She currently serves as the Chief Deputy Coroner over Investigations.

Chief Deputy Farmer received her Registered Nurse Degree from the University of Kentucky. She has also undergone training in death investigation including such courses as post mortem examination, court room decorum, Coroner administration, interviewing, and mass fatality planning.  She has received her Advanced Coroner status and is currently working on her Master Coroner status.

Chief Deputy Farmer is also involved on several community groups including the Child Fatality Review Team, the Domestic Violence Review Team, the Elder Abuse Committee, the Louisville Metro Criminal Justice Commission, and the Child Abuse Task Force.

Robert Fraction
Deputy Robert Fraction Jr. has been employed with Jefferson County Coroner's Office since January of 2003.

He is a retired Sergeant from the former Louisville Police Department. He was employed with the Louisville Police Department from January 1980 thru October 2002. His law enforcement career included assignments in the Patrol Division, District Detective Unit, as a Sergeant in the Homicide/Sex Squad (10 years), Media Relations, Internal Affairs, and the Robbery Squad.

Deputy Coroner Robert Fraction has a B.S. Degree from the University of Louisville. He is a graduate from University of Louisville's long term Southern Police Institute Commanding Officers Course, and he attended the New York State Police Homicide seminar in Albany, New York.

R.D. Jones
Deputy Jones is a former death investigator with the Jefferson County Police Department. He has been with the Coroner's Office since 1998.

Deputy Jones has a BA Degree in Justice Administration from the University of Louisville, and also attended the Souther Police Institute's seminars on Homicide and Sex Crimes Investigation. Deputy Jones has also attended the FBI National Academy and the FBI Hazardous Device School. He has undergone additional training in death investigation including such courses as post mortem examination, court room decorum, coroner administration, interviewing, and mass fatality Planning. Currently he is completing his last course on advanced Advanced Coroner and Master Coroner status. He currently serves as Senior Deputy Coroner.

Cynthia Curtsinger
Deputy Curtsinger joined the Coroner’s Office in 2013.  She has been a registered nurse for 35 years, working in a variety of clinical settings and serving in multiple nursing management positions.  Since 2007, her practice has been limited to forensic nursing at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, Departments of Pathology and Pediatrics.  She holds national certifications in Case Management (CCM) and Forensic Nursing (CFN).  She is a licensed Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) for the State of Kentucky.  She serves on the Board of Directors of the American Board of Forensic Nursing and is a member of the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children.  She has provided numerous trainings to both lay and professional groups.

Eddie Robinson
Deputy Robinson is a retired Homicide Detective with over 25 years experience in death investigations. He was a Fingerprint Examiner with the FBI and an Uniformed Officer with the Secret Service in Washington, DC.

Deputy Robinson's background includes assignments in Violent Crimes, SWAT, Traffic and Dignitary Protection. His past training experiences are Major Case Investigation, First Responder Training, Homicide and Fatal Accident Investigations. He has been with the Coroner's since January 2003.

Rita Taylor
Deputy Taylor is a former Corrections Officer, and has been with the Coroner's Office since March 2002. As a Corrections Officer, she has had direct responsibility of dealing with incarcerated males and females, developing plans for custody supervision, and a variety of other professional corrections duties.

Deputy Thoene began working in the Coroner’s Office in August of 2010.  She has a total of 28 years of experience as a Registered Nurse.  She received her Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Certification (SANE) in April of 2007 and also holds a Certification in Forensic Nursing (CFN).  She was previously employed by the University of Louisville for 12 years.  Four of those years were spent working in the area of Forensic Nursing in the Departments of Pathology and Pediatrics. During the remainder of her employment with the University of Louisville, she worked in the Department of Surgical Oncology as the Clinical Coordinator of a multi-centered breast cancer clinical trial.  Other clinical nursing experience includes the areas of post-anesthesia (PACU), operating room and newborn intensive care.

Sam Weakley
Deputy Weakley was born and raised in Louisville, Ky. A graduate from Atherton High School. He received his college education at Vanderbilt University and continued at the University of Louisville. He began working as a deputy coroner in 1993 until 2002. He was then re-hired in 2007.

Jim Wesley
Deputy Wesley is a retired Lieutenant from the Louisville Metro Police Department. From 1999-2003 he was Commander of the Jefferson County Police Violent Crimes Unit, which included Homicide and Robbery investigations. Jim retired after 28 years of service and has been with the Coroner's Office since November 2003. His past duties include assignments in Violent Crimes, Domestic Violence, Crimes Against Children, and Community Policing.

Deputy Wesley received his BS Degree in Biology from Transylvania University and his MS degree in Justice Adminstration from the University of Louisville.
