Valuable Events and Extended Hours


Neighborhood Place locations in Louisville will offer free events and services in January including several WeCare Information Sessions at multiple locations, a mobile health unit, prenatal classes, and financial literacy courses for the entire family. Also, beginning January 7, two locations will provide extended hours to better accommodate schedules. They are: Tuesdays at 810 Barret Neighborhood Place (located at 810 Barret Ave.) until 7 p.m.; and Thursdays at Ujima Neighborhood Place (located at 3610 Bohne Avenue) until 7 p.m. If customers are in need of appointments outside of the traditional 9 a.m. -5 p.m. hours for assistance with rent, case management services or general information and referrals, the Community Services and Revitalization staff at Neighborhood Place can help meet these requests.

Norton Healthcare will be providing low to no cost mammograms and pap smears for women over 40 and blood pressure and cardiovascular risk assessments for men and women over 21. Some restrictions may apply.

Jan. 17, Finances for the Family at Cane Run Neighborhood Place, 5 – 7 p.m.

Fun and educational financial literacy courses have been designed for the entire family including adults, middle and high school students, and ages 3-11. Free childcare for all ages provided.

Elementary, Middle and High-School students who are incoming kindergarteners, have moved, students new to the district, and any student interested in an optional program, magnet program, magnet school or a high school career theme may apply. Families who do not have internet access will now be able to go to a variety of community based sites in order to register their children for school, including the four Neighborhood Place locations listed above.


Louisville’s Neighborhood Place -- a partnership of Louisville Metro Government (including Community Services and Revitalization and Public Health and Wellness), Jefferson County Public Schools, Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services and Seven Counties -- provide one-stop centers which bring together health care, education, employment and social services at eight locations across the community.
