to Get Your Mind and Body Healthy
Free Budgeting, Cooking, and Meditation Classes in January
Neighborhood Place locations across Jefferson County offer free, valuable workshops and services year-round which are open to the community. In January, a variety of activities can help get your mind and body healthy including a series of mediation workshops, two budgeting classes as well as assistance in writing a business plan for entrepreneurs. Lunch is included but reservations are required. Thursdays, Jan. 16 - Feb. 20, Cooking Matters at Ujima Neighborhood Place, 1 -3 p.m.

Sponsored by Dare to Care and Ujima Neighborhod Place, this six-week cooking class will help you learn how to budget your money and prepare, simple, nutritious and delicious recipes. Free groceries will be provided each week for the recipes prepared in class.Two opportunities for a Healthy Journey for Two Educational Baby Shower
RSVP required by calling 439-9463. Seven Counties and KIDSNow will be hosting these educational baby showers to share information on how to care for yourself and your baby while being pregnant. Participants will receive a baby tote bag filled with baby items such as a blanket, bottle, wash cloth etc. and a gas/gift card. Jan. 18 and 25, CHAMPS! Camp (Creating Healthy Adolescents through Meaningful Prevention Services), hosted by Cane Run Neighborhood Place, 8 – 5:30 p.m.

Camp is a two-day training camp which provides youth ages 14-19 years old (males and females) the opportunity to participate in a teen pregnancy prevention study and learn more about healthy relationships. Youth are provided breakfast and lunch each day as well as incentives including a $75 VISA gift card on Day Two. Sponsored by the University of Louisville Kent School and the Office of Adolescent Health with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.Jan. 23, Exploring Self-Employment Workshop at NorthWest Neighborhood Place, 6- 8 p.m.
