Free Tax Services Continue in March, Other Community Events at Neighborhood Place




Neighborhood Place locations in Louisville will continue offering free tax preparation in March and other valuable services including a college workshop, foreclosure prevention information, and an opportunity for youth ages 14-19 to participate in a teen pregnancy prevention study. Free Tax Preparation is available at multiple Neighborhood Place locations, provided by VITA volunteers:

  • Tuesdays and Thursdays through the end of March, 810 Barret Ave. (1st Floor Conference Room), 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
  • March 4, 11, 25, First Neighborhood Place, 1503 Rangeland Road, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
  • March 4, Self-File Tax Return at Cane Run Neighborhood Place, 3410 Lees Ln., 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
  • March 6 and 22, NorthWest Neighborhood Place, 4018 West Market St., 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
  • March 18, Self-File Tax Return at Farnsley Middle School (near Cane Run Neighborhood Place), 3400 Lees Ln., 4- 8 p.m.

Walk-ins accepted at these sites and most Neighborhood Place locations offer self-file opportunities. Call 2-1-1 or visit www.labcservices.org for eligibility information, required documentation, a full list of other VITA sites as well as information about the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).

March 4, The College Shop at Cane Run Neighborhood Place, 8 a.m. - 12 p.m.

The College Shop will boost college aspirations for young people and adults who want to go to college, providing college hopefuls with information about admission, financial aid and how to plan.

March 5, A Healthy Journey for Two Educational Baby Shower at First Neighborhood Place, 1- 3 p.m.

Located at T.J. Middle School, 1503 Rangeland Road. Contact 439-4591 or jengle@sevencounties.org to RSVP, or 962-3175 and be sure to leave a message.

Seven Counties and KIDSNow is hosting this educational baby shower to share information on how to care for yourself and your baby while being pregnant. Participants will receive a baby tote bag filled with baby items.

March 9 and 16, "CHAMPS! Camp" (Creating Healthy Adolescents through Meaningful Prevention Services). Hosted by South Jefferson Neighborhood Place and held at Fairdale Playtorium, 8 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. for two consecutive Saturdays.

Located at 10616 W. Manslick Road in Fairdale. Call 363-1483 for an information packet to register. CHAMPS! Camp is a 2-day training camp which provides youth ages 14-19 years old (males or females) the opportunity to participate in a teen pregnancy prevention study and learn more about healthy relationships. Youth are provided breakfast and lunch each day as well as incentives including a $75 VISA gift card on Day 2. Sponsored by the U of L Kent School.

March 13, Early Prenatal Class at NorthWest Neighborhood Place, 1- 2 p.m.

March 14, Foreclosure Prevention Information Session at Shively Library, 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.
